Career and Technical Education

Thank you for visiting the Wilcox County Schools' Career Tech Program's web site. We hope that it conveys the importance of the programs to the Wilcox County School System. You will find that Career Tech is committed to meeting the educational needs of the students we serve. Our programs offer challenging curricula that integrate employability knowledge and skills with academics. We are continuously seeking to prepare students for higher education, employment, and the ability to compete in the high-tech workforce.

Wilcox County Career Tech programs are 100% Business and Industry Certified (BIC) that includes a superior rated Air Force JROTC program and a new state-of-the-art Welding program. All Career Tech teachers are highly qualified, certified and credentialed through the businesses and industries they represent. To maintain state and national certification standards, the programs and teachers are required to participate in a BIC Re-certification process.

Career Tech programs begin at Camden School of Arts & Technology (CSAT) with Agriscience,Food & Natural Resources and Business Management & Administration for 7th and 8th grade students. Sixteen career program clusters are available to students in grades 9-12. Students can choose from a variety of classes and fields in Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources, Architecture & Construction, Business Management & Administration, Government & Public Administration, and Human Services. Career Tech is designed to provide extensive career preparatory courses and employability skills to prepare students for life after high school.

Students in career/technical education explore career options and identify workplace issues by enrolling in a variety of classes and/or structured opportunites for technical preparation.  The elements of the curriculum core provide students with the fundamental knowledge necessary to create a viable career plan and knowledge of the essential elements for success in the workplace.  Student organization leadership activities provide additional opportunities that enhance classroom instruction and career preparation.

Our mission is to develop students to be life-long learners and productive, responsible citizens.
