Welcome! We are celebrating our twentieth year of academic achievement here at Wilcox Central High School. We are pleased with the steady progress we have been making to improve academic performance. The administration and faculty will continue to work hard to develop a shared sense of responsibility with students, parents, and the community. We have celebrated several achievements for which we are extremely proud. In November of 2007, Wilcox Central High School became an accredited institution through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This accomplishment demonstrates our " quest for excellence" as we strive to be the best school we can be on behalf of the students we serve. Our school has gained recognition, reported by U.S. News and World Report, as one of the top thirty-one Alabama schools among America's Best High Schools for the past two years. This achievement has earned WCHS a Bronze Award for its many successes. We have worked extremely hard to meet the State's standard for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and to maintain the 90th percentile rank. Our Career Technical Education Program received an "A" on its report card with all programs Business Industry Certified. We are optimistic about our ongoing success. Therefore, to maintain and exceed our current status, we will continue to utilize support programs such as Dual Enrollment with Wallace Community College-Selma, ACCESS Distance Learning, AHSGE Remediation Best Practices and Credit Recovery/Credit Advancement. In addition, we are implementing a full school wide program for continuous improvement under the auspices of Wilcox County Board of Education Federal Programs (Title I), along with the forth-coming implementation of a new welding program that will meet the challenging demands and needs of our students in a global society.
