Bio

My name is Karen Vick Scarbrough and I am the multi-disability teacher at Wilcox Central High School. This is my 12th year in education. Five of those years have been spent in the multi-disability classroom setting.

I am a native of Wilcox County and have lived in the Camden area all of my life. I am the mother of two young daughters and have been married to my high school sweetheart, Curtis, for the last 14 years.

I am truly honored that you have entrusted me with your precious children, it is not a task that I take lightly. Please feel free to reach out if there is anything I can be of assistance to you. I look forward to a great year with you and your child.

I have a passion for teaching students with special needs. It is my belief that ALL children can learn. However, all children do not learn the same way. My main focus will be identifying how your student learns and implementing strategies to ensure (s)he is making progress toward their academic goals. With twelve year of experience in the field of special education, I have worked to develop an instructional style which facilitates all modalities of learning. Multi-sensory lessons are used to meet the needs of auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, and visual learners. Incorporating technology, group activities, education centers, and manipulatives provide for increased learning of new materials and concepts.
